Angie Salerno, LPC

Angie Salerno is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in providing therapy to adolescents, adults, and families. Angie has gained experience providing therapy in a variety of mental health settings including a community mental health agency, residential treatment center for adolescents and young adults, as well as a therapeutic boarding school. Through these experiences, she has learned the value of incorporating creative and interactive approaches to helping clients build skills for positive personal growth and healing from past life events.

Angie’s therapeutic approach is client-centered and strengths-based, utilizing tools and techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, transactional analysis, and reality therapy. Angie is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, which she incorporates in order to effectively help clients who have experienced traumatic life events. Angie values collaboration with the client throughout the therapeutic process and tailoring the approach used to best fit the needs of the client. Her clinical experience includes working with depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma, Veterans’ issues, anxiety, mood disorders, thought disorders, grief, relationship and family difficulties, stress management, adjustment disorders, and navigating life changes.

Angie is a native to northwest Pennsylvania where she grew up in a small rural town. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology, as well as her Master’s degree in Community Counseling from West Virginia University. Since that time, Angie has spent time living and working as a therapist in her home town and in the Pacific Northwest before relocating to the Pittsburgh area. Angie is a nature lover, enjoys hiking and backpacking, and appreciates spending quality time with friends and family.
