Innovative options for depression 

Many NEHS clinics offer TMS or Spravato® for clients who have not found meaningful relief from antidepressant medications. These treatments are provided by trained providers and used alongside ongoing therapy or psychiatric care. Interventional psychiatry can offer hope for people who have been struggling with depression for years, giving them access to treatments that work differently than traditional medications. 

What is TMS? 

Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a non-drug treatment for major depressive disorder using focused magnetic pulses to stimulate underactive areas of the brain that affect mood. TMS is FDA-cleared and provided in select NEHS clinics by trained providers. It may be an option when antidepressant medications have not led to meaningful improvement. Sessions take place in-clinic, and you can resume daily activities afterward.

What is Spravato? 

Spravato® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray treatment for adults with difficult-to-treat depression. It is used alongside an oral antidepressant and administered in-clinic under medical supervision. Spravato® has been shown to provide faster and greater improvement in depression symptoms compared to placebo, with some people noticing meaningful changes within the first 24 hours and continued progress over the next several weeks.
