Matt Hogan, LPC

Matt is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Matt has gained valuable training in delivery of impactful counseling services through his work in partial hospitalization environments and his many years as a family-based therapist. As a result, Matt has developed an approach to therapy that focuses on providing a compassionate, collaborative environment in which clients feel safe and respected. Therapy with Matt emphasizes the importance of identifying strengths and using these to achieve goals.

Matt’s approach to therapy largely focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused therapy. It also draws from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing; ensuring a person-centered approach. When working with families, Matt utilizes Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy while incorporating interactive play in his with children. His clinical experience has included working with people facing depression, anxiety, self-harm, stress management, family relationship difficulties and adjustment challenges to life changes.  In addition, Matt has significant experience providing services to LGBTQ+ clients.

Matt was born and raised in New Jersey and spent part of his childhood growing up in Ottawa, Canada. Matt has been in the Pittsburgh area for more than seven years. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Counseling and Human Services at The University of Scranton followed by his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Duquesne University.

Matt is a fan of music and sports, and enjoys cooking and spending time with friends and family.
