Clinical Mental Health Intern
My ideal clients are children, adolescents, and their families. Some presenting issues that the client and their parent may come to counseling for include anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, challenges with interpersonal communication, aggression, tantrums, elopement, self-harm, and difficulties with emotional regulation techniques. Their needs include understanding and identifying emotional triggers and learning coping skills to increase emotion regulation, positive communication, and build resilience within one’s self. Their goals would be to increase positive communication goals, build self-esteem, improve interpersonal relationships, and decrease behaviors associated with identified triggers.
As a counselor, I utilize a client-centered collaborative approach tailored to clients’ and parents’ unique goals. I focus on meeting the client and family where they are and helping them achieve goals in whatever way they feel most comfortable. My philosophy of practice is a warm, outgoing, and nonjudgmental style that supports healing. My goal when working with clients is to foster a culturally sensitive space aimed at helping people’s ability to cope with their stressors. My clinical expertise is based on a collaborative approach. You are the expert of yourself. I have specialized in working with children ages 3-18 and their families. Some of the approaches I align with most are rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family therapy, solution-focused, ABA, play therapy, and expressive arts.
I understand that taking the initiative to begin counseling can be daunting but know that you are not alone in this process. Whatever you or your family may be facing know that I am here to help support and empower you with the tools necessary to build resilience and promote healing. I am committed to providing an empathetic and compassionate approach tailored to fit your needs. I look forward to working with you, helping you achieve your goals, and becoming the best version of yourself.
