Sara Catana, CMHC

Clinical Mental Health Counselor

I am a clinician at our Taunton clinic who provides therapy services!

My ideal client is a transitional-age adult experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, social anxiety, guilt, or depression. Their primary goal is to adjust to new life circumstances, foster personal growth, and build self-esteem. I also work well with individuals of any age who are navigating major life transitions—such as changes related to education, grief and loss, divorce, or other significant shifts. Additionally, I enjoy working with couples, particularly those facing transitional challenges. This may include couples moving from separation to co-parenting, or newlyweds adjusting to the blending of lifestyles.

I offer a flexible, client-centered approach that draws from a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), somatic exercises, Person-Centered Therapy, Psychoanalytic techniques, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I adapt my methods to meet each client’s unique needs, helping them feel seen, supported, and empowered in their therapeutic journey.

My master’s degree included a specialized focus on marriage, couples, and family counseling, equipping me to work effectively with individuals, couples, and families navigating complex relationship dynamics. I have extensive experience supporting clients through anxiety and depressive disorders, and I bring a compassionate, structured approach to helping people find relief, clarity, and growth.

In addition, I have a strong foundation in working with children and families, including those in blended family systems and those involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). I aim to create a safe, collaborative space where clients of all backgrounds can explore challenges, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.

I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to be their authentic selves. My approach is collaborative and flexible—meaning we work together to find what’s most helpful for you. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, or a major life transition, I’ll meet you where you are with compassion and practical tools for healing and growth.

I have extensive experience working with individuals who have faced difficult life experiences, including trauma, loss, and other overwhelming situations. My approach is trauma-informed, meaning I prioritize safety, respect, and understanding, allowing us to work at a pace that feels right for you. I draw on evidence-based practices like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and somatic techniques to help clients process emotions and reconnect with their bodies in a healthy way.

My background also includes working with individuals, couples, and families—particularly in complex systems such as blended families or those involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and court systems. I understand the unique challenges these systems can bring and offer a space where each person can feel heard and supported.

Above all, I believe that healing happens through connection. My role is to support you in building insight, confidence, and strength, so you can move forward feeling more empowered and grounded in your life.
