Physician Assistant
I am a provider at our Quincy clinic who offers psychiatric services!
I am particularly interested in working with neurodivergent and gender diverse individuals as well as individuals suffering from complex trauma, anxiety, depression and substance use disorders.
Coming from an addiction medicine background, I am fiercely passionate about the intersection between mental healthcare and addiction medicine. Harm reduction and compassionate curiosity are the main tenets of my practice. I enjoy working with patients towards tangible goals whether that be abstinence, reduction in substance use, or safer substance use. Utilizing motivational interviewing in my practice allows me to collaborate with patients as a team member to discover and work towards each patient’s unique goals and needs.
I believe that any type of healthcare is best done in a team and I strongly encourage my patients to take advantage of therapy services. Therapy strengthens the progress possible with medication management and offers long lasting tools for mental health management when medication is not desired or is no longer needed.
Likewise, I believe that non-pharmacologic interventions can be beneficial augmentations to medication management. These can include mindfulness and meditation, nervous system regulation techniques, breathing exercises and more. In addition to these tools, lifestyle interventions can also help improve overall physical and mental wellness. I am a strong supporter of the “Health at Every Size” framework which takes a weight-neutral approach to improving overall wellbeing free from anti-fat bias. This can include incorporating joyful body movement into your routine and/or adding nutritious foods into your diet without the pressure of having weight loss as an end goal, but rather with the intention of nourishing your mind and body.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I recognize the importance of representation and cultural humility in healthcare. In practicing cultural humility, I am dedicated to centering respect and empathy in my work and to continuously learning how to best support all the communities that I serve. Health is not impenetrable to societal, economic or social influences and therefore I believe it is important to consider mental health and treatment through a multifaceted, trauma-informed lens.
My goal as a provider is to create a safe and accepting environment where patients feel comfortable to be unapologetically themselves. I see my role as a healthcare provider on your team as providing education and expertise regarding mental health diagnoses and management, helping you make informed decisions about your healthcare and above all, making sure that the decisions we make together are safe, evidence based and effective.
You are more than your diagnoses or the medications you take. You are a whole person who deserves to be heard and understood. I welcome the opportunity to be a part of your healthcare team and I do not take lightly the honor it is to support you through the vulnerable experience of taking control of your mental health.
