Nikia Wilson, M.Ed, MHC

Mental Health Counselor

I don’t have an ideal client because everyone is different. My hope for any of my clients is that they are willing and open to growth and healing.

As a therapist, I would center the session around the client. The first important thing to do is establish rapport. Person-centered therapy is important to me because it is a human approach to psychotherapy. I can offer the key principles of person-centered therapy. Center the session around the client, they are the expert on their life. Having a supportive therapist and being in an accepting environment is something else that I offer. As a therapist, it is important to be empathic, genuine, and accepting of clients’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I can help my client establish coping skills for depression and anxiety.

I have been working in human services for over twenty years. During that time I have worked with children, adults, elders, and families as a whole. I am very passionate about helping others to grow, heal and thrive in life. Everyone deserves to live the life they dream of. I understand that things happen and it changes the direction of life. That is why it is important to do the work to heal. Mental health is just as important as physical health. It is also important to have balance and heal your mind, body, soul, and spirit.
