Lydia May, LCSW

I utilize a trauma-informed approach, based on the triphasic model, which focuses on establishing safety before processing complex trauma, with the end goal being to reconnect and re-engage with a meaningful life. I use techniques and skills from acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, collaborative & proactive solutions, and play therapy. Overall, I take a strengths-based, values-oriented perspective. My goal is not just to reduce your symptoms, but to help you live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful to you, whatever that may look like.

As a neurodivergent, disabled woman and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I know what it’s like to struggle to find your place in a world that isn’t built for you. I know that when you go through your life feeling different or broken, it is especially hard to reach out for help. It is my goal to provide a safe space and judgment-free zone to heal from your past and embrace your authentic self. You may have never been in therapy before. That’s ok! I will work with you at your own pace to help you gain the knowledge you need to be an active participant in your treatment. If you’ve had bad experiences in therapy before, that is also ok. I am open to feedback on what does and does not work for you. If my values resonate with you and you believe we would be a good fit, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
