Lauren Gonet, MSW, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

My ideal client is a person of any age, race, cultural or gender identity who is motivated and willing to work towards their goals, while learning more about themselves in the process. I believe that clients are the experts of their own lives and it is my job as a therapist to guide, and help them achieve their goals and realize their strengths. Specific client goals may include, building and maintaining healthy relationships, managing conflicts, working towards academic or career success, promoting self confidence and healthy body image and developing coping skills to manage strong emotions, anxiety and depression systems.

I believe that all clients have inherent strengths. As a therapist, I prefer to tailor my approach to help each client realize these strengths and work towards their own individuated goals, whatever those may be. I strive to provide a private, welcoming, and empathetic environment where clients can feel safe and comfortable sharing sensitive information. I am trained and experienced in several therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solutions Focused Therapy which I use to help guide the process. I have experience working with adults, children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression, and Eating Disorders.

I am passionate about helping people, (especially adolescents) who are struggling with identity and body image issues. Adolescence and young adulthood can be a very difficult time, filled with confusion and uncertainty. I believe that it is important to help people in this life stage learn to build healthy relationships, not only with others, but also with themselves. I like to incorporate art, animals, music, books, games and pop culture references into therapy when applicable to help motivate clients and make the therapeutic process more personalized and relatable.
