Kathryn Howard, SWAICL

Social Worker Associate – Independent Clinical Licensed

I am a clinician at our Watertown, MA clinic who provides therapy services!

My ideal client is someone who is navigating complex personal experiences and is open to exploring and understanding their inner world. They may be dealing with challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, or the complexities of identity and faith transitions. Their needs often revolve around finding clarity, healing from past traumas, and building a stronger sense of self. These individuals seek a compassionate and non-judgmental space where they can feel heard and understood. They desire to make sense of their experiences, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and cultivate a life that aligns with their true selves. Their goals include emotional healing, personal growth, and the development of resilience and self-compassion. While readiness for change varies, I welcome clients at all stages of their journey. Whether they are just beginning to recognize the need for change or are actively working toward it, I am committed to meeting them where they are and supporting them in their process.

I believe that healing begins with being truly heard. As a compassionate and empathetic therapist, I specialize in Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These modalities allow us to explore the stories that shape your life, understand the parts of you that feel conflicted or overwhelmed, and work toward internal harmony and healing. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals navigating LGBTQ+ identities, women’s issues, and transitions out of high-demand religious environments. These experiences can be complex and deeply personal, and I strive to create a safe, affirming space where you can explore your feelings, reclaim your sense of self, and find healing. Additionally, I have specialized experience assisting individuals dealing with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety. These conditions can feel overwhelming and isolating, but with the right support, healing is possible. Whether you’re facing intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness, persistent sadness, or constant worry, I am here to support you with warmth, respect, and a commitment to your growth. Together, we can work toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Embarking on the journey of therapy is a courageous first step toward healing and self-discovery. I understand that reaching out for help can feel daunting, and I want you to know that you are not alone. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process, and my goal is to help you develop the tools you need to navigate life’s difficulties, improve your mental well-being, and build a life that feels true to you. Whether you’re facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, or navigating complex identity and faith transitions, I am here to walk with you through this process. If you’re ready to take the next step in your journey toward healing and growth, I would be honored to work with you. Together, we can explore your experiences, identify your strengths, and work toward a more fulfilling and authentic life.
