I would say my ideal client is a person who struggles with perception of self (i.e., body dysmorphia/dysphoria, negative self talk, heavy perception of self guilt) and intrapersonal relationships (i.e., struggles with parental figures, defiance towards authority). I would think their needs would be internal, needing confirmation of what their self is and how to make (in a sense) “the inside match the outside.” I feel that this person’s goals would be the ability to self express, accurately assess social situations, and battle negative thought processes.
As a naturally empathetic person, I lean towards the inner emotions of a person. My special outlook is that a person has several aspects to their personality and identity that can be fed and satisfied leading to a healthy individual. I bring the person towards this with acceptance and unconditional regard. Further I identify with LGBT clients.
I would like people to know that I believe in a person’s ability to transform themselves from the inside out into a person that they can be not only comfortable with but also confident with. I strive to create a space that is safe for all LGBT people, am passionate about narrative & music therapy, and am eager to learn about cultures that span the globe.
