Everyone has their own strengths and needs, children and adults alike. Sometimes the needs are overwhelming and the strengths are hard to find. Those are times when it helps to have someone who will listen, understand, support, validate, encourage, and help. I believe it’s important to honor all emotions as valid and all needs as real. I also believe those needs don’t have to define who you are. I especially love working with children and youth who are dealing with a lot, emotionally, and who have family who care enough to seek help and support in the struggles that parenting can bring.
To me, counseling is a collaboration. The therapist and client explore together what kinds of approach work best: practical skills and strategies, insight and self-knowledge, a focus on the present or reconciliation with the past. The therapist brings experience, compassion, training, and the ability to listen. The client brings everything else.
I use a range of modalities, including psychodynamic, play therapy, DBT, and CBT. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Among other areas, I have experience in trauma, depression, anxiety, handling life changes, and parenting struggles. I love my work, and I would love to meet you and find out if we might be a good fit for each other.
