An ideal client for my practice would be someone who may have an idea of what their needs are but may need help to clarify and achieve them and willing to enter into a therapeutic partnership built on trust and patience. Those who wish to better express themselves or seek community, relationship building or redirecting negative thoughts. Whether the issues stem from depression, anxiety, isolation, lack of resources or a need for focus. The client should want to find roads to recovery within and without the counseling sessions and utilize their own insight for continual development.
My experience has its foundation in public education, with over ten years of experience in expressive arts techniques as well as educational and social-emotional goal setting in a classroom and individual setting. I employ therapeutic practices that can be active and imaginative, catering to the needs of the individual as well as a humanistic approach.
I took a nontraditional route to outpatient counseling starting as a creative artist, then educator and finally public administrator. My personal experience has shaped and blended with my interest in mental health recovery with service to the community, and I strive to connect individuals to practical resources as well as individual goals.
