Ideally, I would like to work with clients who are either adolescents or young adults and are struggling with persistent, major mental health struggles such as depression, anxiety, OCD, etc. Whether it be needing to process their emotions or cope with their mental health struggles so that their daily functioning is not hindered, I would like to be able to be on that journey with them as a support and collaborator.
I have experience in working with marginalized populations such as low income individuals/families and people of color and with adolescents who mainly struggled with suicidal ideation, major depression, and anxiety. I believe it is important to provide not only counseling but also resources that my clients can access outside and in their community.
I am a mental health counselor who strives to be person-centered, multicultural, strengths-based, and relational and mainly use interventions from motivational interviewing, CBT, and DBT. My goal is for clients to feel heard, supported (however they define that), and understand that their struggle does not define them.
