Therapy is not a cookie cutter process. Each person receives a different experience depending on who they are and what they are dealing with. I not only offer a safe space, we work together to create a brave space in which you are free to express yourself without fear of judgment. I offer an open environment in which to explore one’s thoughts, emotions, relations, culture, beliefs, and perceptions. You will receive unconditional positive regard and support utilizing person-centered, evidence-based practice techniques catered to you specifically. The most important thing in the relationship we build is collaboration. You are the expert of your experiences and I am here to work with you in discovering what in your life is leading to the distress you experience, and to support you in developing ways to cope with these stressors so that they no longer alter your perception of yourself, others, and the community in which you live.
I am an African American woman who understands how complicated life and relationships are. I have worked with people dealing with issues of depression, anxiety, anger, and grief. I use a more holistic and sometimes creative approach in working with people, and hold the belief that we are not the problems our life story says we are.
