Chloe Copelas, MS

Counselor

I am a counselor at our Boston – Government Center clinic who provides therapy services!

My ideal client would be someone dealing with a major life change or adjustment that is causing them stress, anxiety, depression, etc. Their issues would be worrying, sadness, difficulty adjusting to this new change, stages of grief (denial, acceptance, etc) and anxiety. Their needs would be figuring out new ways to cope with this change, finding new meaning in their life, identifying their role and purpose, and figuring out how to move forward and increase happiness. They would be seeking more happiness, better coping skills, and would want to improve their daily functioning.

I can help by helping the client to identify their purpose, role, and identity in their life. Things may have just changed dramatically for them, but this does not mean that they have to lose these things, we just need to re-identify them. I would not dwell on the past too much with them unless they found it helpful to open up about their past as a way of healing. I would use CBT strategies with a person centered lens to create an unconditional positive regard and non-judgmental atmosphere.

I want my clients to know that I am kind, accepting, honest, empathetic, trustworthy, non-judgmental, and open-minded. I want every client to be able to feel safe and comfortable when they are in a session with me and be able to feel that they can share their honest thoughts with me. My role is to listen and be supportive while offering guidance and helping the client navigate whatever they may be going through.
