Emily Emery, MS

Counselor

I am a clinician at our Lowell clinic who provides therapy services!

My name is Emily, a pre-licensed therapist with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have a strong passion for working with individuals in managing life stressors, improving self-esteem, those who are struggling with grief and loss, and those looking to decrease anxiety and depression symptoms. My goal is to help you achieve stability, hope, confidence, and life fulfillment. I believe the client is the expert in their own life and I am simply a guide to assist you in reaching your goals. I recognize that reaching out for professional help can be a challenge as it can be difficult to express and seek help and entrust another person with the challenges and hardships we may face. Together, we can work towards accepting the help you deserve and towards healing.

I view the therapy process as a collaborative space for you to show up authentically while providing a space to reach your goals. My goal is to help you get from where you are to where you hope to be. My style is warm, patient, and down-to-earth, and I focus on building a strong, supportive relationship with each client. I have experience working with kids, teens, and adults, focusing on issues like anxiety, depression, grief, and emotional regulation. I’m passionate about helping clients improve relationships, reduce stress, manage anxiety, and work through depression. In our sessions, I take a person-centered approach to therapy, focusing on each client’s unique needs and goals. While my main approach to the counseling process is person-centered, I also incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, play therapy, art therapy, and solution-focused therapy to help clients develop skills and find deeper understanding. I understand that talking about the hard stuff can be difficult, so I sometimes incorporate art and games into sessions to help you feel comfortable expressing yourself. I see therapy as a partnership, with both of us working together to help you flourish. I’m here to support you, whether it’s finding new ways to manage everyday stress or tackling bigger life challenges.

My interest in therapy grew from my own journey with mental health. Thanks to the support I received in my own therapy, I hope to help others become the best versions of themselves and build fulfilling relationships in every area of their lives. I’m a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and prioritize creating a safe, welcoming environment where all clients feel respected and heard. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing your story as I believe that is where real growth and healing can happen. I see the therapeutic relationship as essential, building trust and respect so that we can work together effectively. I seek to collaborate with you to find the most effective way to tackle your current difficulties, support you when you feel overwhelmed by the load you are carrying, and celebrate you and all your successes- big and small. Whether you’re starting therapy for the first time or returning to continue your journey, I look forward to supporting you through this healing journey!
