Sarah Taggart

Ideally, I would like to work with children – adolescents with any issue but especially with a history of trauma. I am open to working with adults as well, however most of my experience so far has been with children.

I am a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist with a Master’s degree in mental health counseling and dance/movement therapy. I have been able to use movement in various ways in the therapeutic process. One way that it can be used is to help children express themselves and to feel heard. When words don’t quite say what the client is trying to convey, movement can fill in the blanks and help share the feeling that is needing to be expressed. Self expression and finding ways to feel safe enough to express the self can be really powerful for individuals who have various diagnoses or histories of trauma. I also love to integrate art and music into the therapy when possible. Techniques from CBT and DBT as well as SFBT are integrated into my practice at times. I draw from various humanistic approaches as well. I collaborate with each client and we work together to create the treatment.

I have a love for dance, music, art, and nature. I enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds and cultures!
