Elizabethe Solar, BS, Intern

Mental Health Counselor

I am an intern at our Falmouth clinic who provides therapy services!

I work with young individuals who feel lost in their identity, uncertain about their next steps in life. My goal is to help them find motivation, develop confidence, and build the skills necessary to create a meaningful and fulfilling future.

I also support young parents who struggle with raising their children, often seeing the impact of these challenges reflected in their children’s behavior. Through family therapy or individual sessions, I provide parents with encouragement, psychoeducation, and practical resources to create safe, nurturing home environments. When working with children, I focus on ensuring they have the safety, support, and services they need while their caregivers learn more effective parenting skills.

While my formal experience in mental health counseling is grounded in coursework and theory, my life experience is extensive. As a parent of two now-adult children, I’ve navigated the challenges of raising a family. Additionally, I’ve worked with young people in religious education, university classrooms, and through mentoring in my media career.

My ability to listen deeply, empathize, and extend kindness is both a personal strength and a clinical asset—qualities that led me to this field. I enjoy using creativity and storytelling, collaborating with individuals to explore what’s keeping them stuck and ‘rewriting’ narratives that better align with their true selves.

I aim to model kindness and believe in the power of change. While I’m still refining my specialties, I gravitate toward Rogerian principles, narrative therapy, and elements of CBT to help people gain clarity about who they are, embrace meaningful change, and recognize the agency they have in shaping their lives.

Life can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re uncertain about your next steps. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

My path to counseling has been shaped not only by education but by real-life experience. As a parent, mentor, and media professional, I’ve spent years listening deeply to people’s stories—interviewing, teaching, and guiding individuals from all walks of life. I’ve worked with young people in religious education, university classrooms, and professional mentoring settings, always striving to meet people where they are with openness, curiosity, and kindness.

I believe in the power of storytelling, not just as a way to communicate but as a tool for growth. Sometimes, we get stuck in narratives that no longer serve us. My approach blends Rogerian principles, narrative therapy, and CBT, helping clients ‘rewrite’ their stories in a way that resonates with who they truly are.

Above all, I want my clients to feel seen, heard, and valued. If you’re ready to explore new possibilities, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can uncover your strengths, clarify your path, and create meaningful change.
