Master of Social Work
I am interested in working with clients who have complex trauma and or other environmental or external factors that are contributing to their current mental health struggles. Client issues may include mood disorders, trauma, relationship struggles, social skill struggles or any other life events that could be causing distress. I have experience working with people who have experienced adoption as a trauma and am interested in continuing that work, if it presents itself. Goals include increasing self esteem, empowerment, clarity and independence. I am open to working with clients across the life span although have experience working with clientele 4-19.
I am client centered and utilize a trauma informed lens. I believe that the most important work between a therapist and a client is building a trusting therapeutic alliance which serves as the foundation for the work the provider and client can do together. I believe in not rushing the therapeutic alliance building process as it is not appropriate to merely expect trust. I believe that the client is the expert of their own lives and often possess the resiliency to overcome life’s struggles without knowing it. I utilize strength based interventions to support self discovery and additional awareness. Historically, the majority of my work has been unpacking complex trauma with children and adolescents.
I care deeply about supporting individuals in finding the most meaningful life for themselves. My ultimate goal is to hold a space where clients feel valued, supported, validated and safe. I believe that is the foundation and that most anything can be accomplished if those are in place.
