Amechi Egbunike, MSW

Master’s Social Worker

Hello! My name is Amechi Egbunike (ah-MAY-chee, aye-boo-knee-kay) and I am a mental health clinician at our Braintree clinic. I received my B.A from Harvard University in Neurobiology, and received my MSW from Boston University. I care most about centering my clients’ cultural backgrounds alongside their personal experiences. I have experience working with youth of all ages and adults (up to 65 years old) and am always willing to learn and grow alongside you! My practice involves a lot of narrative therapy and talk therapy, with solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy added where necessary.

I plan to combine evidence-based research with your lived experiences to provide various therapeutic interventions. Traumatic experiences stemming from race, ethnicity, class, citizenship status, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other identities held may tie to the kind of therapeutic tool you find most valuable.

I believe that there is no such thing as a negative emotion. You may act on your emotions positively or negatively, but the emotions themselves are neutral. There will be no emotion too “negative” or “inappropriate” in your meetings with me, We will create the space for all of your emotions to exist healthily, good or “bad.”
