Intern Therapist
My ideal client will show up and be present during sessions. I do not mean physically show up for sessions, but show up for themselves, and want to learn and grow. I will always do my best to do the same for a person in return.
I cannot pick an ideal issue for my client to be going through. However, my client will want to be in session, and is open to as much education about what they are experiencing. I think it is important for a client to learn about themselves as well.
My client’s goal would include relieving symptoms and living a healthy, functional life. My client would want to be the best version of themselves. My client will want to learn how to use coping skills and practice them when issues arise outside of sessions.
Being an intern, I do not have a specialty yet. I mainly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and believe that identifying negative core thoughts and challenging those, can help a person learn how to heal.
I believe it is important for a client to feel comfortable and feel like they can be their true self around me. I know this takes time, but I am always willing to wait, and help this process progress.
Listening to my client is important. I have always been able to listen and without judgment. I want my client to feel like I really hear them and what they have to say.
I have always been an introvert. I have learned to listen not only to what people say, but to read their body language as well. Part of the reason I chose this field is because of my ability to listen. I listen without bias, without judgment, and with pure respect for my client. I know building rapport can take weeks, but it is worth it. I want a client to be able to trust me. I want them to know they can be open and honest with me.
